If you’re considering a career change or thinking about becoming an electrician or mechanical fitter, Ringsend provides an ideal environment for skills development and career growth at Ireland’s largest wastewater treatment plant which is also one of the most advanced plants in Europe. In fact, our former Managing Director began his career as a mechanical fitter at Ringsend. After leading CAW for several years, he’s now the Managing Director of our parent company—proving that the sky is the limit!

What does the job involve?

Our on-site maintenance fitters and electricians are the backbone of the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Works, keeping operations running smoothly every day. Their work involves handling a range of tasks across the plant, including corrective, preventative, and planned maintenance of diverse equipment. With a role that’s as dynamic as the plant itself, each team member gains broad experience across various equipment types and sizes, making their days anything but routine.

Our team members are especially proud to support Ireland’s largest and most complex treatment facility. As Ringsend undergoes a significant capacity upgrade, they’re right in the middle of the action, working alongside contractors from time to time, and with the newest and most advanced technologies like Nereda® advanced granular sludge systems. This exposure to cutting-edge processes offers our team invaluable knowledge and skill-building opportunities, preparing them for a variety of future pathways.

More than maintenance, our fitters and electricians play an active role in enhancing plant performance. Their close understanding of equipment allows them to recommend improvements, solve recurring issues, and suggest upgrades to boost efficiency. This creative problem-solving makes each team member an essential part of CAW’s mission to protect our environment and community through safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
